Thank you for a great icebreaker season 2023-2024. We had a record-breaking winter and already looking forward to the next one. During the spring-autumn our Snowcastle area is open offering other type of icebreaking experiences!
New Icebreaker Arktis will cruise in Kemi during the winter season 2024-2025. More modern Arktis, the little sister of the legendary Sampo, offers amazing arctic views from the vessel during a 3 hour cruise with ice floating. Icebreaking season for Arktis starts on 2nd of December and we will open our sales in our web shop in May. Stay tuned.
Information about Arktis
Arktis has been completely refurbished for tourist use last year. It started in operation in icebreaking duties in 1980 in Kemi. Its operational area has covered the entire Gulf of Bothnia. In addition to maintaining waterways, the vessel has been extensively utilized in icebreaking missions. Now she will start a new career as a tourist icebreaker in Kemi operating together with the grand old lady Sampo. Its capacity is 180 passengers, there is great view from lounges from two different floors, the Arktis Café serves drinks and snacks and you can visit the Captain´s bridge during the cruise. The ice floating experience happens smoothly from the vessel, where you get to walk the steps outside of the dressing room straight to the sea.

Icebreaker Arktis and Sampo cruises next winter 2024-2025
Icebreaker cruises are offered by two icebreakers during season 2024-2025 in Kemi. The historical and legendary Sampo and its little sister, more modern, Arktis. Kemi Tourism Ltd. has provided the unique icebreaker experience since 1988 in Kemi and continues providing these world-known true Finnish experiences even stronger in the future.
