What would customer service work on the world’s only icebreaker in tourist use sound like? Icebreaker Sampo’s cruises are the most internationally known tourist experiences in Lapland and the whole of Finland. For 35 years, we have been taking customers in Kemi from more than 50 different countries every year on this unique cruise across the icy Bothnian Bay. Our customers are thrilled by this experience, which also makes the work of a guide very rewarding.
Along with Sampo, we are bringing another new icebreaker Arktis to the business, to strengthen the experiences. The work can vary between both ships.
Kemi Tourism Ltd. – the Icebreaking Company is looking for a Cruise Host for Icebreaker Sampo and Arktis for the winter of 2024-2025. Sampo cruises from 20.12.2024 to 5.4.2025 and Arktis from 2.12.2024 to 5.4.2025. There are cruises almost daily, from two to four times a day.
An essential part of the guide work at the Icebreaker vessel is entertaining customers, assisting waiters in sales work, cleaning work, as well as dressing and assisting our customers during ice flotation. This section requires good general fitness. The guides can also work in arranging cruises and port transfers at the SnowCastle of Kemi. The icebreaker cruises are a very important part of our business and definitely the top product of tourism in all of Sea Lapland.
As a Cruise Host you:
- Planning of cruises, including guides’ tasks, schedule of groups during the cruise, supervise ice floating activity times, and general organization of who & when. Coordination with office, clients, guides and crew.
- Preparing the cruise in the morning, checking everything is in good order.
- You are coordinator of supplies needed (certificates, maps, shop merchandising)
- Adaptation of programs and tasks of the guides during the cruise if needed to solve. Making sure customer service and experiences are success.
- Attend to customers with questions, inquiries.
- Help/lead other guides with their questions about their tasks.
- Coordination and guidance of guides during ice swimming activity. Make sure cruise programs are ran by scheduled time.
