SnowCastle Resort is open 365. Due to the COVID-19 situation we have had to make some adjustments to our services.
We can guarantee that we are the place to be when you are looking for a peaceful and quiet place, near the nature. Finland is the the happiest country in the world, we offer the purest air and our land is covered mostly of forest, lakes and rivers. Read more and learn about our all-year-round services in the SnowCastle Resort.
Since 1996 we have built the incredible SnowCastle every winter (open from January to April) in Kemi, using only snow and ice, made from the sea water, as building materials. As we wanted to bring together the fun and beauty of the snow and the cold of the Arctic, inside the SnowCastle’s snowy walls you can admire gorgeous ice sculptures, snow furnishings and other beautiful decorations shining in the white pathways, leading the visitors to fairytale-like sceneries.
Following the success of SnowCastle, we now continue to contribute to your entertainment with SnowExperience365 within a massive main building which is open throughout the year. Our SnowCastle365 main building, which is part of the SnowCastle Resort located by the Bothnian Bay, promises to bring you an unforgettable experience all-year-round. We offer our unique activities in all seasons under the same roof together with our trusted partners who operate their own booths on the main floor. Wellness and sauna services, conference and meeting room facilities and our marvellous seaview restaurant with a big terrace are available on the top floor. We are focusing to give our guests the best seasonal experiences all-year-round.
After the snowy winter arrives the spring when nature comes alive, the trees grow new leaves, flowers start to blossom and the birds fly back from the south. In the summer months June and July, we enjoy long bright days and the sun doesn’t set at all! In August we still enjoy warm days but the evenings start to get darker and we can witness amazing starry nights. Colourful nature (“ruska”) and autumn auroras are the real highlights of the fall, one of the most beautiful seasons in Finnish Lapland. Fall is the best time for hiking trips!
Experience the sea, sun, snow and ice 365 days in Kemi. Here you are one with the nature yet next to services of our small and welcoming city. Follow us on social media for latest news.
During the winter time, tourists have a chance to spend a night in the SnowHotel located in the SnowCastle. Put your feet up and chill out in the gorgeously decorated rooms made from snow and ice – a true arctic adventure you won’t ever forget! The temperature in the SnowHotel is always around -5 degrees Celsius but the comfortable bed with lamb skin cover, fleece blankets and a sleeping bag designed for Arctic conditions ensures a good night sleep.
On top of that, Seaside Glass Villas is an ideal accommodation choice for nature lovers. Voyagers can experience the sky’s exclusive colors, starry northern sky and possibly the Northern Lights during autumn and winter. A vast open field of frozen sea opens in front of the villas in the winter months. During the spring you can observe the fascinating transformation as nature wakes up after a long winter: the sea ice melts and birds return to Lapland in large flocks. Or, you can enjoy the white night magic of the endless summer days.
Our famous, award-winning IceRestaurant operates now inside the main building. The SnowExperience365 invites you to winter wonderland every day of the year. Amazing snow and ice sculptures decorate the snowy walls, you can wine and dine by the ice tables and even get married surrounded by ice in the middle of the summer.
Our arctic delicacies will also be served in our new Seaview Restaurant Lumihiutale. Both à la carte and buffet group menus are available with modern arctic taste. You are able to enjoy the midnight sun, autumn colours and even Northern Lights while dining on the terrace or through the restaurant’s big windows.
Our 5-course tasting menu is a unique combination of Finnish seasonal specialities with a special twist. First course is served in our famous IceRestaurant365, where you will start your dinner by the ice tables in -5 degrees Celsius, surrounded by beautiful ice sculptures. After this cool event you will continue your tasty experience in Lumihiutale Seaview Restaurant, where you will get a taste of seasonal specialities that our chefs will create in the open kitchen.
Lumipallo – Art of Ice cream bar is located in the main floor. Here you can enjoy a special coffee and taste delicious ice cream with Finnish flavours like rhubarb, salty liquorice and lingonberry.
